Our Tips For Creating A Practical And stylish Laundry

It is designed by them, for them. But if you'll take time to create an aesthetically pleasing kitchen or bathroom because you spend a lot of time in those spaces, why not your laundry?

We welcome clients on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane who have a clear vision for their space. But for those who need help figuring out where to start, we suggest looking at the size of your laundry and understanding your washing machine and dryer types will affect your storage options.

Whatever your options, our customised joinery and cabinetry will match your style and, most importantly, create a functional space.

Below are some essential considerations for any laundry room.

Layout

Traditionally, laundry rooms occupy one of the smallest areas of the home, despite being one of the most used rooms. The thought is, why waste space in a room few people enjoy being in?

But small laundry spaces are no problem for G & M.

Our designers specialise in maximising usable space for functionality. Something as simple as allocating space for front-loader washing machines and dryers under benchtops can have a significant effect.

Who doesn't want more bench space in their laundry?

When deciding on a suitable laundry layout, you have three options:

Straightline: Best for small spaces

This is the most common laundry layout for its simple but effective use of space and appealing aesthetic, with a single benchtop and storage above and below.

L- Shaped & U-Shaped: Best for large spaces.

These laundry room layouts can feature L or U-shaped benchtops, providing ample space to fold and store your laundry without looking cluttered. The layouts also provide space to set your ironing board up and move freely around the room. Your laundry could also feature a larger sink and hanging rack.

Imagine washing, drying, folding, ironing, and hanging your clothes in one space.

Functional Storage

Customised cabinetry and joinery are our sweet spot.

We can design, fabricate and install cupboards and shelving to make the most of your space while fitting in with your style. Our designers will assess your laundry room size and work with you to decide on the best storage option.

Our laundry storage experience includes:

  • Floating shelves: These provide openness and give the impression of added space to your room

  • Vertical cabinets and shelves: For maximising space and creating the illusion of a more heightened room

  • Floor-to-ceiling cupboards: For added home storage (Your laundry can store more than laundry-specific items, e.g. Broom, vacuum cleaner etc.)

What Are Your Laundry Priorities?

A room design can lift or bring down a person’s mood, and we know it’s a rare thing for anyone to enjoy doing laundry. But we also know better than most that the right cabinetry styled with the right flooring, wall colour and tile choice can transform a laundry into a calming space.

Your best bet is to decide what you want your laundry to do for you.

Do you only want to store your laundry detergents? Do you want space to leave your folding, so you don't have to put it away instantly? Would you also like to store your linen or other home items? Do you want your laundry to be multi-functional?

Our team will work with you to transform your responses into a laundry room you look forward to spending time in.
